Smoke, 2016
The neon lines derive from drawings of Polaroids (“Still Life with Candle, 2016), that capture the smoke after blowing out a candle. Freezing this fading moment of transformation – when the flame goes out and the smoke rises – these neons are still lifes, visualizing transience like a dance between two conditions. Neon as a medium of intermediate visibility contrasts smoke as a ephemeral phenomenon. – Fiete Stolte
