Throwing three balls in the air to get a straight line (best of thirty-six attempts), 1973

The set of 12 colour offset lithographs was conceived on occasion of John Baldessari’s first solo exhibition in Italy in 1973.In addition to the edition of 2.000, there were 500 publishers copies. The editions are numbered, and signed by the gallerist and publisher on the colophon.

It is one of a few only photographic works and beautifully visualizes the artists experimental approach to conceptual art, also in relation to his teachings at CalArts Institute in California until 1986.
