* 1944 in Celle, former West-Germany
She lives and works in Hamburg, Germany
In her work, Almut Heise captures a version of post-war Germany, that seems to be frozen in time. As a former student of Peter Blake and David Hockney, her perfectly arranged and worked out paintings, etchings and drawings are thus images of memories and show Pop Art influences. Heise was honoured with Edwin-Scharff-Award (1975) and a scholar at Villa Massimo (1978/79).
