“Emil Rangelbach’s was best known for his lush bed designs. As is so often the case, furniture that is not very successful, such as the clockwise rotating table, accommodates a greater number of visible historical references. Due to the low prevalence, these are then only scrutinized by a small section of society. If you open this table from above, not only the title but also the shape suggests, that the ideas of the National Socialists continue to find their way into people’s everyday lives and that this also happens over the generations. In the 90s, his daughter Lotte Rangelbach will revisit her father’s less than successful table model and create a classic of the 90s: the banana table.”
“Nr. 031, Emil Rangelbach, Rechtsdrehender Tisch, 1960” is part of Polzin’s fictional design history.
